I hope your Thanksgiving was full of family and love... now it's time to gear up for Christmas! Here are a few tips to take with you through this Christmas season...

1. Remember Christmas is a holiDAY, not a holi-week or a holi-month!

2. Focus on the excitement of the season and its true gifts… the gifts of hope, love, and family.

3. Before you sit down to a meal or go to a holiday party, tune into your hunger. On a scale of 1-10 (1 being ravenous, 10 being stuffed), you should begin eating when your hunger is a 3 and check in with yourself every couple of minutes. Stop eating when you would rate your hunger as a 6.

4. Try to drink at least one extra glass of water per day, it will keep you hydrated and make your skin glow through the holidays.

5. Stay mentally connected to the foods you put into your body. They should act as FUEL, not as reward or stress relief.

6. Lastly, enjoy every day, every conversation, and every interaction you have this Christmas season!

Enjoy the start of this Christmas season and always continue to nourish your body, mind and soul!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is quickly approaching and I couldn't be more excited. Having Grady (he's almost 1!) here this year makes the holidays so much more rich and full. I can't wait to share our family traditions with him and start a few new ones.

With the holidays within arm's reach, it makes me think about how thankful I am for family, friends and good health. To often though, we forget about how important our health really is and compromise it by indulging in the comfort of holiday fare. "I'll start working out and watching what I eat in January" is too common a phrase... why wait?? This year I would challenge you to consider enjoying food for what it really is... nourishment. Let food accentuate your holidays by providing the nutrients and energy your body needs. However let your family and friends give you the comfort you need through conversation and community. Happy Thanksgiving... may you count your health as your biggest blessing!
